Mourvedre has found a happy home in the Callaway Estate vineyards where it enjoys our plentiful sunshine. This very drinkable vintage offers up lots of red fruits like strawberry, cherry and currant along with a dusting of pink peppercorns. Powdery tannins lend structure and depth, and blend seamlessly with darker berry notes, dark chocolate and nutmeg on the finish. 

 

Interesting Facts: Mourvedre is generally a late ripening varietal, it was harvested September 19th. The free run was separated from the hard press wine and racked into separate lots. The hard press wine was racked into neutral French oak barrels. Mourvedre needs extensive time in barrel, minimum of 14-16 months in oak, to show its true potential.

Aging: 100% barrel aged for 24 months. 15% new French oak, 11% two year old French oak, and 74% neutral oak barrels.
